Meeting minutes


The CGCWS Quarterly Meeting was held on March 12, 2017 at the Whispering Firs Golf Course.  The President called the meeting to order at 2:45 PM.

1.  Secretary:  Minutes of the last meeting was not available.

2. Treasurer:  Current Financial Report was not available.

3. Old Business:

a. 36th HAGC Update.   The President reported that so far we have 25 players participating; 26 with Manny Perez attending as HAGC Secretary. The player roster was passed around for review by the general membership.  Members were asked to review the roster and make changes as necessary.  Norb reported that the entry fee for the Senior and Super Senior Side Actions is currently $20.00 for two days; however, there is a pending decision by the HAGC Board of Directors on changing the entry fee from $20.00 to $10.00.  Accordingly, if the change is approved, you will be reimbursed $10.00 if you already entered.

b. 37th HAGC Update.  The President updated the club regarding coordination made with the Emerald Queen Casino (EQC) for our Banquet.  There were several menu options discussed and a list of menu options was passed around for review by the general membership.  EQC is giving us a room rate of $89.00 per night at the EQC Hotel & Casino in Fife.  A shuttle bus will be available between the EQC in Tacoma and the EQC Hotel & Casino in Fife every half hour.  EQC will provide the flags.  Catering by Ray Ogo and Company for the banquet was also discussed.  Ray Ogo will provide his bid for consideration by mid-April.

4. New Business:

a. Tournament Director replacement.  Gene Quitugua is leaving on PCS in June.  Matt Skipworth was appointed by the President to replace Gene as the Tournament Director for Team B.

b. New membership.  Gary Volz (nominated by Norb) and Ryan Blas (nominated by Gene) were considered for membership.  After discussion, Norb motioned that Gary be a member and was seconded by Roy Leon Guerrero; and Gene motioned that Ryan be a member and was seconded by Joe Crisostomo.  By unanimous vote, both were approved for membership.  Welcome aboard!!

c.  KP/Side Action.  The President reported that this issue will be discussed at our next quarterly meeting to decide if we continue it or go back to where it was before of keeping KP and Side Action separate.

d. Ticket Sales in support of the 36th HAGC.  The Vice President reported that we were given 200 books of tickets to sell and we only sold about a third of it.  He motioned that the club buy the remaining tickets worth approximately $640.00.  It was seconded by Joe Crisostomo and the motion was unanimously approved for the club to cover the unsold tickets.

e.  March TOC.  Congratulations to the following Winners!!  These guys are good!!

f.  April TOC.  Ray Ogo recommended that we consider having the April TOC at a golf course North of Tacoma.  More to follow.

g.  Tee Times for next Sunday (03/19/17):  4 Tee Times starting at 08:20 AM at Eagles Pride Golf Course.

Thank you from group for an arrange an excellent get together.  Norby the yard is looking great. To all those the donated to the pot luck it made for a great get together and breaking of bread with follow members.

Special thanks for showing up during recovery to Frank and Jessy. Good to see you both on the mend.

TOC: July 2016

Secretary Report: A special meeting was held on May 22, 2016 to elect the new CGCW Offices.  The results are listed in the roll call.  Thanks to Greg and Louise Meno for hosting and as always for the great food.

Treasure Report: Due to Jesse Illness Treasurer to Marty dues and TOC dues have not been collected since March.  Ray will be sending out individual notices for past dues and TOC payments that will be due on August 7, 2016.  Make sure you have the funds TOC dues have not been collected since March.  Ray will be sending out individual notices for past dues and TOC payments that will be due on August 7, 2016.  Make sure you have the funds and see Marty to pay.  It is each member’s responsibility to pay their dues and TOC payments, not the treasurer’s responsible to track you down. Let’s all make a commitment to pay dues and TOC on time each month to make a commitment to pay dues and TOC on time each month to make Marty’s job easier.

Pay out to TOC winners from April – July was done to catch up for monthly winners.

Old Business:

We will be hosting the 2018 HAGC and need to start getting ready. More on this in New Business.

The 2017 HAGC is taking shape for Monterey, Ca playing the Bayonet & Black Horse Course at Fort Ord or whatever they are calling it these days.  The HAGC Board has approved a one-time increase for fees to $200.00 and $245.00 with guest.  Should be a great tournament and a great trip for all of you that have previously been stationed in the Monterey area.

New Business: 

1.    The membership voted to table the discussion on the new side bet system until next meeting due to the Tournament Director having to leave early.

2.    The New Club FY Club calendar is posted on our website.  Some of the items on review and address any issues to one of the club officers.

3.    August will be a tournament month.  We will have the monthly TOC during the first two weeks and the Annual Championship during the third and fourth weeks.  So be prepared to play a lot of golf in August.

4.    The following have been notified that their membership is no longer valid; Alex Q, Tony P. and Julian M. due to no participation in club activities.

5.    The club voted to hold distribution of club funds until after the 2018 HAGC so that we have seed money for our hosting of this tournament. It was also agreed that no new members be inducted until after this tournament.

6.    Gene has graciously accepted to be the new Club Tournament Director Ray O who has enough on his plate with his new business startup. Ray thanks from all of us for all the hard work you have done as the tournament director.  Guess you be playing, collecting, and going in the future.

7.    2018 HAGC Committee:

a.    Gene has been doing some looking and found us a great deal at Hawks Prairie in Lacey. Tour Courses in one location and the will do the scoring and setting up the carts, plus few other benefits at $55.00 a head for a projected 200 participants.  He was asked to lock it down. 

b.    Other Committee Volunteers included Greg M, Picnic Committee Chair and Vidal C as Banquet Committee Chair.

c.    The President reminded us that it will take the team work and commitment of all members to have a successful tournament. 

d.    The 2018 HAGC Committee will start meeting monthly in August 2016.  All Club Officers, Committee Chairs are expected to attend (hate using that word mandatory.  All members are welcome and additional volunteers or draftees will be added.

Well I think I covered it all.  I think we need to stick with Roberts rule in the future and take on subject at a time.  Don’t be suppressed to hear your out of order.

Meeting Minutes

1.  Meeting called to order by President Roy Leon-Guerrero at the Fort Lewis Eagles Pride Golf Course.

2.  Members Present:  Roy Leon-Guerrero, Vice President Lou Maguadog, Treasurer Jesse Crisostomo, Matt Skipworth, Greg Meno, Ray Ogo, Joe Camacho, Norbert Flawau, Frank Pangelinan, Joe Taitano, Tony Peredo, Ocsar Hilman, Alex Quitugua, John Perez, Manny Perez, Johnny Babauta, Vidal Camacho, Joe Guzman, Ed Muna.

3.  Old Business: 

A. Hafa Adai Classic: 

Roy explained that he was going to pass out the roster for the Hafa Adai Classic.  He needs all members going to the classic to verify their information.  He explained that the roster was color coded as follows:  Black means your paid in full;  Red means you need to pay; Blue means you owe him $1240.  He also brought up the practice rounds would start at 8:00 am and a group photo would take place at 7:00AM on Tuesday.

B.  Dues:

Everybody needs to see Jesse and get up to date on their dues.

C.  American Legion Tournament:

The American Legion Tournament is on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the American Lake Veterans Golf Course.  Registration is between 11:30 and 12:20 with a shot gun start at 1:00 PM.  Their will be contests for closest to the pin on holes #2 and #8 and a closest to the rope contest on hole #9.  Roy handed out and collected applications to team captains.  Payment is not needed until you register on the day of the tournament.

4.  New Business:

A.  Membership:

Roy informed the members that Ed Muna had been reinstated as a member.  Roy also made a motion that Ed Perez and Don Aguigui be voted in as lifetime members.  Joe Taitano second the motion and the motion passed by a majority of the members present.

Roy also nominated Joe Guzman become a member.  Joe Camacho seconded the motion and the motion passed with a majority of the members present.

B.  Hawks Prairie Tournament:

Manny Perez told the members about a tournament being held at the Hawks Prairie Golf Course on May 2, 2015 to raise funds for the Thurston County High School.  He said that we currently have four teams and that their is one opening available for team #1.  Manny needs a commitment by next Sunday because he has to turn in applications on the following Monday.  Entry fee of $75 is not needed until the day of the tournament.

C.  Shirt with Logos:

Norbert said that he is collecting shirts to have logos put on them.  He said that if you him a shirt next Sunday you can get it back in 2 days.

D:  Election of Officers:

Roy selected Frank Pangelinen and Joe Taitano to serve as election co-chairman.  He informed the members that elections were held every two years and he passed out papers and pens to all members and told them to write down their vote for President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Frank and Joe collected and tallied the ballots.  Frank announced the new officers as follows:

President:  Roy Leon Guerrero

Vice President:  Lou Maguadog

Secretary:  Kevin Maxwell

Treasurer:  Jesse Crisostomo

Jesse declined and Roy suggested the member with the next highest votes take his place.  The members agreed and Frank announced the new Treasurer as Ed Muna.
